Welcome to Catheter week where we’ll be discussing all things catheter related, from knowing where to get help and support, to real life stories from people who have been through it too. There are many reasons someone may need a catheter at any point in their life, and we want to dispel the stigma.

We’re here to tell you that there is no reason for you to feel embarrassed or ashamed of your body – for any reason. If you rely on a catheter, you may not feel comfortable talking about your health in public (and that’s ok too!) but we hope the information and stories we share this week will help you to know you’re not alone.

If you’re feeling compelled to contribute we’d love to hear from you, find out more below.

Catheter Guide

Navigating life with a catheter can feel overwhelming at times. Our catheter guide is a full document, offering you insight into the many different aspects of why you may need a catheter, what will happen if you do, and the different options available. This is not a substitute for visiting your GP or clinician so do seek medical advice if you are experiencing any issues.

Stories

We’ll be sharing stories from people who have been there. From Megan who has Fowler’s Syndrome, and who has learned to love her body and her catheter, to Estelle who after many years of living with a catheter has learned to talk more openly about how it affects her.

We’re deeply grateful for all of the contributions from the Community that have helped to make this week possible.
