If you have been diagnosed with haemorrhoids you may be prescribed a Corticosteroid cream (medication that contains steroids) which can be used to help reduce the swelling and inflammation associated with haemorrhoids. These types of creams should not be used for longer than a week as they can make the skin around your anus thinner.
Please speak to your GP or health professional about using Corticosteroids.
There are also some methods to help prevent or relieve symptoms of haemorrhoids such as reducing or avoiding constipation as much as possible, or over-the-counter creams and ointments.
